Student Success Coach vs. Academic Advisor
At LSUA, as an online student, you have two key people supporting your journey — each with a different role to help you succeed.
Student Success Coach
Your go-to person for overall support as an online student
Think of your Success Coach as your cheerleader and guide for balancing life + school.
Your Student Success Coach:
Is your primary point of contact from admission through graduation
Helps you stay on track with your goals and manage your schedule
Checks in regularly to provide encouragement and support
Connects you with campus resources (IT, financial aid, admissions, deadlines, etc.)
Acts as a liaison if you’re having trouble reaching a department
Advocates for you if challenges arise
They are there to make sure you feel supported, informed, and confident throughout your online experience.
What they don’t do:
Academic advising, financial aid advising, grading disputes, appeals, or professor concerns — but they will direct you to the right person who can help.
Academic Advisor
The expert on your degree program
Think of your Academic Advisor as your map-reader who makes sure you’re heading toward your diploma the fastest way possible.
Your Academic Advisor:
Helps you choose the right classes
Explains degree requirements and program expectations
Ensures you stay on track for graduation
Discusses majors, career goals, and future plans
Meets with you regularly for academic planning
They focus specifically on your courses, degree path, and academic progress.
In Simple Terms:
