Creating an Account and Posting a Job at LSU of Alexandria
This guide walks employers through creating a Handshake account, connecting to a company profile, and posting jobs to reach LSU of Alexandria (LSUA) students and alumni.
Creating a Handshake Employer Account
Step 1: Create Your Account
- Navigate to Handshake Employer Registration.
- Enter your:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Work Email Address
- Password
- Click Create Account in the lower-right corner.
- Open the verification email sent to your inbox.
- Click the verification link within the email.
Note: Verification links remain active for 12 hours.
Complete Your Employer Profile
After verifying your email address, Handshake will ask you to complete your profile.
- Select the types of candidates you are interested in recruiting.
- Enter your phone number.
- Complete any optional profile information.
- Indicate whether you are recruiting on behalf of another company as a third-party recruiter.
Once your profile is complete, click Continue.
Join an Existing Company Profile
Handshake will prompt you to connect your account to an existing company profile.
If Your Company Appears in the Search Results
- Locate your company.
- Click Request to Join.
If the Incorrect Company Appears
- Click Choose Another Company.
- Search for the correct company name.
If You Need a Different Location or Franchise Profile
If your company appears but you need a different location, division, or franchise profile:
- Click Choose Another Company.
- Create a new company profile that matches your organization.
Create a New Company Profile
If your company does not appear in the search results:
- Enter your company name in the search bar.
- Select + Create a New Company [Company Name].
- Click Create Company.
Complete the requested company inforation:
- Company Name
- Industry
- Website
- Company Description
- Address
- Company Size
- Click Continue.
Verify Your Company
Handshake requires employer verification before posting jobs.
You may be asked to provide:
- Business Registration Number (BRN, EIN, TIN, or equivalent)
- Government-issued ID
- Additional verification information requested by Handshake
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification process.
Posting a Job
Step 1: Create a New Job Posting
- Log in to Handshake.
- Select Jobs from the left navigation menu.
- Click Create Job in the upper-right corner.
Step 2: Enter Basic Job Information
Provide information such as:
- Job Title
- Job Description
- Position Location
- Department (if applicable)
Tip: If you plan to direct applicants to an external application website, do not place that link in the job description. Handshake provides a separate application section later in the process.
If you need to finish later, click Save as Draft.
Otherwise, click Continue.
Step 3: Complete Position Details
Specify:
- Job or Internship
- In-Person, Hybrid, or Remote
- Full-Time or Part-Time
- Expected Hours
- Compensation (optional)
- Benefits (optional)
- Qualifications and Requirements
When finished, click Continue.
Step 4: Select Schools
Choose the schools where you would like your job posting to appear.
Important: Be sure to select LSU of Alexandria (LSUA) if you would like LSUA students and alumni to view your posting.
Click Continue.
Step 5: Choose an Application Method
Candidates can apply in one of two ways:
Apply Through Handshake
- Resume
- Cover Letter
- Transcript
- Additional requested documents
Apply Through an External Website
- Provide a direct application URL.
Note: Handshake does not support job postings that require applicants to apply solely by sending an email.
Step 6: Publish Your Job
Review your posting and click Continue to submit it.
Once approved by Handshake and your selected schools, your job posting will become visible to eligible students.
